Physics for Students on DVD Team Logo
A+ warning Equations of motion; Scalars & Vectors; Work, Energy & Power; Angular motion; Kepler's laws; Newtonian Motion; Density & Pressure....
Program material is designed for Year 8-12 teaching.
These DVDs have a simple style. Jason Gibson loves his subject, and loves teaching it, using a white board. Jason's enthusiasm for this subject is obvious. Plain-speaking, careful, explaining, using heaps of examples.
"...I have developed an appreciation for the fine teaching of physics. Jason does a beautiful job. His worked examples are a delight..." Dr Joel Cayford - PhD in computational atomic physics

The Physics Tutor
The Physics Tutor DVDs fit well with New Zealand and Australia secondary physics curriculum requirements. The two DVDs in this set contain eleven hours tutoring, divided into useful chapters, and interspersed with many worked examples. These are a treasure in themselves! Each step is carefully and deliberately explained by Jason, so no one gets lost.

Like all of Jason's resources, this an extremely useful classroom supplement. It is not a substitute for a good teacher, rather it is an assistant tutor. It can help teachers improve their own teaching - Jason is an excellent example to follow. Or the teacher can use the DVD in class - even just for the examples. You can stop and start the DVD as Jason works through each example, checking student understanding yourself and enlarging on points, before proceeeding with the DVD.

Disc 1 includes: velocity & acceleration in one dimension; equations of motion in one dimension; scalars and vectors; projectile motion; Newton's laws of motion; Newton's laws of motion with friction; work; kinetic energy and the work-energy theorem; potential energy and energy conservation; power. His enthusiasm is helpful!
Disc 2 builds on DVD1 and includes: momentum and impulse; conservation of momentum; inelastic and elastic collisions; angular speed and angular acceleration; rotational equations of motion; tangential speed and centripetal force; gravitation and Kepler's laws of motion; torque; rotational equilibrium; angular acceleration & moment of inertia; angular momentum; density and pressure; the bouyant force; the Bernoulli equation.

Jason's plain-speaking approach works well. The basic steps carried out well on the white board, lucidly explained using everyday analogies. By following his example, and his examples, students and teachers alike benefit from this well designed teaching resource. As the yellow diamond logo says: "the use of these DVDs will cause increased understanding of physics and will lead to higher grades."
